Chamak Foundation (Chamak Padhai Se) is an Indian non-profit organization dedicated to the empowerment of underprivileged students through education. Founded on 6 October 2023 in Hyderabad, Telangana, the foundation provides educational support, mentorship and opportunities to students across rural, tribal and minority communities.

The organization was established by Dr. Mohammad Azam Ali, an educator and social activist, with the belief that education is the most powerful tool for transforming lives. The word "Chamak" means "shine", symbolizing the idea of shining through education.

The philosophy of the foundation aligns with the words of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, who stated, "Agar tum sirf apne liye zinda ho toh iska matlab yahi hai ke tum apni qaum ke liye zinda laash ho", and A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, who said, "Aap Badho Desh Ko Badhao".

Background

When Dr. Azam Ali was studying in the eighth class, financial difficulties forced him to discontinue his education for a year. During that time, he worked as a wall poster boy, pasting posters and banners on streets to support his family. While working, he came across the slogan of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan – "Sab Padhe – Sab Bade", which inspired him deeply.

Having experienced poverty and interruptions in education during his early life, he recognized the importance of accessible education. Motivated by social responsibility, he established the foundation to support students facing similar challenges.

Chamak Foundation was officially launched in the presence of social activist Professor Shantha Sinha.
