Asim Mahfooz Husain Jafri, popularly known as AJ, is a well-known casting director and part-time writer in the Indian film industry. He was born on August 15th, 1993, in Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, and currently resides in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Asim's diverse talents and dedication to his craft have earned him the nickname "giant of Weimar" among his fans.[1][2]

Early Life and Education

Asim Jafri pursued a degree in B.Com and later completed a diploma in filmmaking from MAAC Kanpur. In 2015, he moved to Mumbai to pursue his passion for acting and joined an acting school to hone his skills.[3]

Career

Asim Jafri started his career immediately after graduation in 2013, landing his first job in a local theatre. He played the lead role of Chandu in a play called "Ek Aur Dronacharya" and later portrayed Swami Ramanand in "Das Din Ka Anshan," staged at Gaity, Shimla's famous theatre hall.

Asim's career took off as he ventured into casting direction for short films, including "Ayaan," "Judgment," "Safar," "Obsession," and "Rickshawala in Lockdown." He also tried his hand at writing and directing, producing the short film "Ek Din" in 2015.

In 2020, Asim worked as a casting assistant for the Star Bharat serial "Teri Ladli Mai" and directed the short film "Chaak." The following year, he directed another short film, "Holi Awareness." In 2022, Asim produced a music album titled "Kahin Na Lagey" under his banner, Asim Jafri Productions, with Urvashi Verma as the executive producer and Rahul Prajapati as the director.[4][5][6]
