Avik Gangopadhyay (born 6 May 1969) is an Indian author, columnist, and academic known for his extensive work in English and Bengali literature, literary criticism, and interdisciplinary studies. His academic contributions span aesthetics, literary theory, linguistics, the decline of languages, and diaspora studies, alongside intellectual, philosophical, and religious discourse.[1][2]

Early Life and Education

Avik Gangopadhyay was born in Kolkata, India. He is the son of Prof. Manab Gangopadhyay, a renowned philosopher and educator, and Smt. Sriparna Gangopadhyay, a distinguished vocalist and dancer.

He attended Sri Aurobindo Vidya Mandir, St. Thomas, Ballygunge Govt High School, and Durgapur Govt College before completing his post-graduation in English from Jadavpur University (1992) and a Bachelor of Education from Calcutta University (1998). Additionally, he pursued studies in Sanskrit, French, and German languages.[3][4][5]

Career

Avik began writing at the age of eight and officially started his literary career in 1996. He has authored thirty-five books and contributed to numerous journals and newspapers globally. His works explore themes of language decline, diaspora, cultural revival, and psychological narratives across civilizations.[6]
