Ravi Valluri (born December 14, 1962) is a retired bureaucrat (as an officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service), faculty of the Art of Living, and author. He currently serves as the CEO of Chhattisgarh East Railway Limited and Chhattisgarh East-West Railway Limited.

Early life and education

Ravi Valluri was born in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He studied at St. Xavier's School, Delhi, and completed his BCom. (Hons) from Hindu College, Delhi University. He later did his Master’s in Business Economics from Delhi University and a PGDM from the Management Development Institute, Gurgaon.

Career

Ravi Valluri worked with the World Bank, FICCI, and CMA before joining the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS). He served on eight zonal railways and worked on various projects, including special pilgrim trains during Kumbh Mela 2019 and movement of migrant labor during the COVID pandemic. He is currently involved in a project for the construction of an exclusive rail coal corridor.

Career as an Author

Ravi Valluri has written several works in fiction and non-fiction genres. Several of his works were unveiled by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and have been translated into Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi.

His works in the non-fiction genre deal with subjects such as mind management, mindfulness, time management, stress management, thought patterns, counseling alcoholics, drug addicts, yoga, breathing techniques of pranayama, and Sudarshan Kriya. He has written extensively on these areas for papers like the Free Press Journal, Life-Positive E-Magazine, The Pioneer, and occasionally for The Hindu. He is particularly empathetic towards the problems of students facing examination blues.

He was felicitated with the Member Traffic (Railway Board) Award for his contribution to troops mobilization during “Operation BrassTacks”.

Ravi Valluri received the prestigious ALS (Asian Literary Society) Award for the best work of non-fiction in 2024 for his book Magic of the Mind, the LiFT Magazine Award 2024 (third prize) also for the Magic of the Mind in the Self-Help category. He received the Sahitya Sparsh Award 2024 for best fiction/short stories for his work Bombay Review and Other Stories He was also selected as the best emerging author (fiction) by Blue Rose Publishers at the World Book Fair, New Delhi 2024 for Bombay Review and Other Stories.
